Committees
WCAR is a member-centric organization with its governance and decisions directed by the membership. Members can become involved within the organization at many levels, including committee participation. The current standing committees of the organization are:
- Bylaws
- Review WCAR’s operations and governance to ensure compliance with the Bylaws. Also reviews and promotes changes to the Bylaws to meet the changing needs of the organization and its member goals. Oversees recommended changes to the Policy and Procedure manual.
- Budget and Finance
- Oversees the organization’s investments and promotes their utilization based upon the members’ directives. Reviews and recommends an annual budget to be adopted by the Board of Directors.
- Education
- Provides strategic guidance on the education and career advancement offerings provided by the organization. Review instructors and ensures the highest quality of educational resources is offered to the membership.
- Government Affairs
- The Government Affairs program anticipates and addresses regulations and legislation that could change the way real estate professionals perform their jobs. Program staff and members actively work to shape legislation and regulatory proposals that affect the profession and ideals of the profession including home ownership, private property rights, and community-building.
- Grievance
- Receives ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine if, taken as true on their face, a hearing is to be warranted. The Grievance Committee makes only such preliminary evaluation as is necessary to make these decisions. While the Grievance Committee has meetings, it does not hold hearings, and it does not decide whether members have violated the Code of Ethics. The Grievance Committee does not mediate or arbitrate business disputes.
- Member Services
- Recruits new members and focuses heavily on retention efforts through reviewing and recommending relevant member services provided by WCAR. Committee responsibilities also include serving as mentors to new members, providing support, promotion, evaluation of and assistance for WCAR’s overall activities. Suggests, plans, and coordinates the networking events offered to WCAR members including Membership Mixers, the Installation of Officers, and the annual golf outing.
- Professional Standards
- The Professional Standards Committee makes decisions on matters involving ethics or arbitration filings.
- REALTOR® of the Year
- Composed of the five-preceding REALTOR® of the Years, this committee reviews nominations for the annual REALTOR® of the Year award and selects the deserving recipient.
- Qualifications
- Composed of at least one Past-President and four other members, this committee reviews nominations for Board of Director candidates and recruits leaders for Board and leadership positions.
- Scholarship
- WCAR awards one graduating senior from each Williamson County public high school with a scholarship for use towards higher education goals at an approved university-level school. The Scholarship Committee members review applications, interview finalists, and select the recipients of the scholarships.
