2010 College Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted
January 19, 2010 (Franklin, TN)—The REALTOR Good Works Foundation of Williamson County, Inc. invites seniors from Williamson County’s public high schools to apply for college scholarships. The Foundation was created by members of the Williamson County Association of REALTORS, where historically each year the Association awards one senior from each of the public high schools within Williamson County with a scholarship to assist students with their education goals.

The awards are in the amount of $2000 per student. In addition, the Beverly Collins Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded. “We are so proud to be able to contribute to these deserving scholars. Williamson County has wonderful schools and produces many students who are seeking to continue their education. We are very excited to be able to help students in their academic and vocational pursuits,” stated Karen Baker, 2010 president of WCAR. Scholarship awards are sent to the recipients’ selected place of higher education and the student in tandem; so that the funds can be applied directly to the students’ accounts.

The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, chaired by J. Edward Campbell, works with guidance counselors from the schools to help students complete and file their applications. The committee then reviews the applications and determines the finalists who will then meet with members for an in-person interview. Applications for this year are due to March 1, 2010. Recipients are selected and announced by May.

WCAR members contribute to the scholarship fund and have been proud to award scholarships to promising students for over a decade. With the newly formed Foundation, REALTORS and others in the real estate industry can contribute to the scholarship programs through donations and fundraisers. The Foundation will host a golf outing in June and invites REALTORS® along with members of the public to play and help support the scholarship programs.

The REALTORS® of Williamson County invite you to share this scholarship information with a senior that you are aware of and encourage them to apply. Applications are available in all of the guidance offices in the Williamson County public high schools. Applications can also be found on WCAR’s web site; www.williamsoncountyrealtors.org.
